Presentation

Collective Sound Checks is a collective musical experience with smartphones. Each events offers the participants the possibility to play together in musical and playful proposals, as a group or interacting with a performer (group, DJ...).

The project uses Cosima, a collaborative platform for collective interaction, based on last generation web mobile technologies. Collective Sound Checks focuses on experimentation with playful scenarios, technologies and content developed on the platform by a community of users.
The first round of Collective Sound Checks was conducted in collaboration with Studio 13/16. The first workshops at Studio 13/16 were held in spring 2014, on May 14, May 28 and June 14 (for the Open House at Ircam). A second series followed in Fall/Winter 2014 on October 1, October 15, November 5, and December 17.

Musical performances followed with Chloe, as part of the the Festival of Music in 2015 and La Gaite Lyrique for Nuit Blanche 2015.

Theses sessions helped develop a series of scenarios in which a selection is available for smartphone at cosima.ircam.fr/checks.
